South Loop

Entertainment is the South Loop’s forte.  There will not be a day that goes by where you will not find something new and interesting to do.  Check out the museum campus, where there is a trio of fantastic museums.  Start off at the Field Museum where you can see our friend SUE, the only fully complete Tyrannosaurus Rex in the world.  If live animals are more to your liking, walk over to the renown Shedd Aquarium , where you can see a wonderful display of marine life, but don’t forget to see main attraction, which happens to be a SeaWorldesque dolphin show.  If the planets and stars are your fancy, walk over to the Adler planetarium, peek through the telescope and look for E.T.!

The South Loop is also home to Grant Park, which happens to host a ton of great events.  For all you music lovers, there are numerous music festivals there in the summer, including Lollapalooza, a three day festival featuring some of the world’s hottest bands.  If you love food, you must check out the Taste of Chicago and the Chicago Gourmet Festival, where most of the food Chicago is known for is featured on display.  And if you’re lucky, hopefully another Chicago team will win a championship and you can witness the celebration in the park.  Also don’t forget to check out Soldier Field for a Ditka sighting, or catch the fireworks go off at U.S. Cellular Field when the White Sox hit a homer!
